91. Rhine Deneyleri

Joseph B. Rhine, 1930’lu yılların başlarında Duke Üniversitesi’nde bir dizi araştırma başlattı. PK deneyini planlarken irade gücüyle istemli olarak, rastlantısal atılan bir zar üzerine etki edilip edilemeyeceğini araştırdı. Deneyde, bir dizi zar, eğik bir düzleme olası hileleri (zar tutma) engellemek için otomatik fırlatma aletiyle fırlatılır. İsteyerek çalışmaya katılan ve PK etkisi oluşturmaya çalışan kişi, zar sonuçlarını görüyordu. Kendi isteğini kullanarak, daha önceden belirlenmiş bir zar yüzeyinin üste gelmesi için etki etmesi söyleniyordu. Amaç zarı etkileyerek, genel ortalamanın dışına taşan bir tahmin tutturmaktı.

92. U.S. government adopts Russian "mind-reading" technology for counter-terrorism

In this article from Wired, Sharon Weinberger discusses "mind-reading" technology that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security hopes to use to identify terrorists. The DHS is interested in Semantic Stimuli Response Measurements Technology (SSRM TEK), which has been developed at the Psychotechnology Research Institute in Moscow. SSRM Tek is a software package which can, according to those who developed it, measure peoples' responses to subliminal messages presented to them in a computer game. Terrorists' responses to scrambled images (of, say Osama bin Laden or the World Trade Center) are apparently different to those of innocent people.

Ingo Swann, 1933’de doğdu. Şubat 2013'de vefat etti. Çocukluğundan beri psisik deneyimler geçirmis oldugundan, 1960'larin, sonlarinda Amerikan Psisik Arastirma Dernegi'nin (ASPR) 'durugörü' 'telepati' ve 'ölüm-ötesi deneyimi' arastirma programlarina süje olarak katildi. ASPR'de ve daha sonra Stanford Arastirma Enstitüsü'nde (SRI) yapilan deneylerde, 'cografi durugörü' yetenegiyle deneyin yapildigi yere çesitli uzakliklarda bulunan bölgelerin durum ve kosullari hakkinda bilgi vermekle kalmadi, Jüpiter ve Satürn gibi gezegenlerin cografi özellikleri hakkinda da bilgi vermeyi basardi.

96. The Conscious Universe, Chapter 1: Introduction

In science, the acceptance of new ideas follows a predictable, four-stage sequence. In Stage 1, skeptics confidently proclaim that the idea is impossible because it violates the Laws of Science. This stage can last from years to centuries, depending on how much the idea challenges conventional wisdom. In Stage 2, skeptics reluctantly concede that the idea is possible, but it is not very interesting and the claimed effects are extremely weak. Stage 3 begins when the mainstream realizes that the idea is not only important, but its effects are much stronger and more pervasive than previously imagined. Stage 4 is achieved when the same critics who used to disavow any interest in the idea begin to proclaim that they thought of it first. Eventually, no one remembers that the idea was once considered a dangerous heresy.

99. African-Americans and Predictive Dreams

Belief in psychic events such as precognitive dreams runs quite high in the general population of the U.S.—between 25% and 50% in most surveys. But among blacks here, the rate of belief is still higher. Belief in predictive dreaming was affirmed by 92% of the 116 African-Americans I interviewed (as well as by 84% of 25 black male prisoners who responded to questionnaires), but by a much lower 57% of a matching white sample of 80. Thus in my samples all but a small percentage of blacks believe in predictive dreams, while only something over half of whites do.
